In the CSA model, shareholders commit to support a farm by paying in advance for a regular supply of vegetables. This allows the farmer to grow the best quality produce with- out the economic worry that now besets modern agriculture. The commitment of shareholders to accept either surpluses or setbacks helps offset the unpredictability of the marketplace or weather.

How it Works
Each shareholder will receive 24 weekly deliveries of fresh organic produce every Thursday afternoon. A Large Share is intended to meet most of the local produce needs for 3-4 people and cost $695 (less than $30 dollars a week). A Medium Share (60% of the Large Size) is intended for 1-2 people and cost $475 (less than $20 per week).
Spoutwood’s commitment to sustainability has governed our decision-making since the CSA began – 21 years ago. We are Certified Naturally Grown, which means we don’t use any synthetic fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides – EVER! Instead, we use organic control methods, like companion planting, row covers, only approved sprays or powders and lots of elbow grease. By supporting Spoutwood you are giving back to your local community and positively impacting the health of our environment. Also, as a CSA member, you will be providing yourself and your loved ones with healthy, local, fresh vegetables for an entire season.
Working Shareholders have all the fun!
We encourage members to explore our working share option here at Spoutwood Farm CSA. For a few hours a week, you could bring home a weekly share of fresh vegetables from the garden. This option is best suited for someone who may have an interest in gardening or would want to learn more about small scale sustainable agriculture. You would be involved in all aspects of the farm, from seeding to harvest. If you choose to sign up, medium size share members would be required to complete 70 hours over the course of a full season. Large share members would require 100 hours over the course of a full season.
Don’t have time to commit to our working shareholders program? Why not go “halfsies” with us? Half/half allows members to pay half the price and work half the hours – the perfect balance! Recommended for those with limited or seasonal availability.
